Public art celebrates Calgary’s culture, natural beauty, and community pride
From Blank Wall to Community Canvas
What began as an empty wall at Creekside Shopping Centre has been converted into a public mural celebrating Calgary’s history, landscape, and community identity. The artwork highlights the city’s natural beauty, cultural icons, and the character of the local community.

Collaborative Creation
with Local Residents
During the Calgary Stampede, Choice Properties invited the community to participate by painting sections of the mural. This hands-on engagement allowed residents to leave their mark while contributing to a collective citywide story.
Artistic Vision and Support
The mural was brought to life by artist Elena Bushan, whose creativity captured Calgary’s unique identity. The Choice Properties team supported the installation and unveiling, reflecting our ongoing placemaking efforts across the portfolio.

Placemaking Through
Public Art
This project exemplifies how Choice Properties uses underutilized spaces to support community engagement. By combining art, engagement, and collaboration, the mural strengthens local connections, fosters civic pride, and enhances the everyday experience at Creekside Shopping Centre.
Celebrating Culture and Connection
The mural launch is part of Choice Properties’ broader placemaking initiatives, which prioritize community engagement, public art, and sustainable social impact. Projects like this highlight how thoughtful design can turn ordinary spaces into vibrant, meaningful destinations.
